Why members value us

Kaiser Permanente’s “managed care model, which combines health insurance with provision of care, set it apart from traditional health insurance companies,” reports John Abraham, general manager of Net Promoter programs at Satmetrix. “Customers mentioned personalized service, convenience and high-quality end-to-end health care as reasons they would recommend the company.”

About Satmetrix Net Promoter scores

Other companies that ranked No. 1 in their industries included JetBlue, Symantec, Vanguard, Apple, Google, and American Express. Net Promoter benchmark rankings are based on survey responses from more than 22,000 U.S. consumers nationwide.

Consumers rate up to two companies from which they have purchased products or services within the previous 12 months. A company’s Net Promoter score is based on customers’ likelihood to recommend the company. In addition, consumers rate each company on various aspects of customer experience, including product or service features, customer service, and overall value. It’s all part of the total health environment we provide to our members.

At our June forum, you’ll learn how the leadership team at Kaiser Sunnyside Medical Center is reinventing hospital care here in the Northwest.

Just two years after opening as part of the $300 million expansion of Kaiser Sunnyside Medical Center, the Northwest Center for Heart and Vascular Care is benchmarking its success against that of long-established heart centers around the country.

Creating a strong safety net

Photo of a female doctorA reliable experience of excellent care may be one of the best reasons to choose Kaiser Permanente for employee health. That’s why we want your employees to know that our providers and highly integrated delivery system will be well equipped to take care of them in the event of a natural disaster or health care emergency.

No substitute for preparation

What might be needed in the event of an emergency? Kaiser Permanente supply chain experts Tim McCauley and LaVonne Horn shared their experience at a recent Northwest Supply Management Association RoundtableKaiser Permanente is not responsible for the content or policies of external Internet sites.. Our own preparations include:

  • A three-month local supply of products commonly used during disasters, including masks, gloves, rubbing alcohol, distilled water, and hand sanitizer.
  • Three days of onsite inventory for hospital services, including ready-to-eat meals.
  • One- to two-week onsite inventory at outpatient facilities.
  • Contractual agreements with medical supply vendors guaranteeing continuous service during a disaster.
  • Access to warehouses throughout the U.S.
  • Access to several brands of products, made by different manufacturers.

The 2009 H1N1 epidemic demonstrated the success of these preparations. Advanced stockpiling ensured that Kaiser Permanente was among the few health care providers in our area that did not run out of needles and syringes for the multi-dose vaccinations.
